Since 2019, Zion International Ministries, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has provided mentoring and coaching services to over 150 at-risk youth, ages 5-18, within the Ohio metropolitan area, with a focus on Columbus South Linden, Franklinton, and Eastside neighborhoods. In 2020, the Youth Ministry expanded its school-based mentoring initiatives, extending its reach to more than 500 K-12 students in Georgia and California.
About the Mentoring with Schools (MWS) Program:
Our program aims to provide students with guidance, support, and motivation by pairing them with dedicated mentors from our church community. These mentors are committed to fostering personal and academic growth among students, helping them navigate the challenges they face both in and out of school.
Program Objectives:
1. Personal Development: Enhance student confidence and self-esteem by providing positive role models.
2. Academic Achievement: Offer tutoring and support to help students reach their
educational goals.
3. Community Engagement: Strengthen the bond between schools and the local community, creating a nurturing environment for students.
Our Vision:
At Zion International Ministries Inc, we are committed to nurturing the educational aspirations of our nationwide Community Revitalization efforts to make an impact with “at risk youth” leadership development efforts. On January 2020, MWS was created by a 90 minute in-school session with 5 fifth-graders at A. Phillip Randolph Elementary School in Atlanta, GA. 30 minute Testimonial by Comedian/Ventriloquist Willie Brown and Woody invoked a School Assembly, postponed by Covid -19 pandemic period until November 15, 2024 “VALUE OF EDUCATION (VOE) SEMINARS”.
Partnership with Morehouse College Admissions Director Michael Gumm involved continuous 30 minute VOE Seminars sessions for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders as “Assembly”; consisting of an initial 15 minute Fitness Participation Session warm-up, Cool down 15 minute listening to a “Testimonial” from Pro Athletes, College Admissions Directors, Celebrity and Music Icons to reinforcement to VALUE their EDUCATION beyond High School, and finale 30 minute My POCKET SCHOOL session of random subject Q&A on a PROJECTOR SCREEN as “prize giveaways”; attending to the details is a testament to our dedication of providing valuable educational tools that facilitate continuous learning and academic excellence to our K-12 School youth across the USA!
